INTRODUCTION
Hi everyone,
I'm Miss Maria and I'm keeping it real. What does that mean? I'll tell you....but first.....a little bit about me and my background.
I am a wife, mother, and Nutrition and Sustainable Ag Major who believes in the importance of eating sustainable to keep yourself and the environment healthy. I am a former preschool Chef (hence the name Miss Maria) where I focused on cooking meals and snacks from scratch and organic whenever possible exposing children at an early age what healthy eating looks like. With my knowledge and experience, I have ventured out on my own and have started a brand new business baking homemade all natural breads from scratch using local ingredients in my products.
What does it mean to eat sustainable? It means: eating locally (supporting your local farmers by going to farmers markets near you), eating grass fed, free range, organic whenever possible, eating foods that have an expiration date, eating foods that are minimally processed (you can pronounce and know what the ingredients are), and eating nutrient dense products (the most nutrients per calorie) as much as you can.
Why is this important? First of all, eating locally and supporting your local farmers helps
your community thrive and creates income for the farmers so they can sustain a living and continue to provide us with healthy foods that we need. Eating locally also ensures the quality and freshness of the foods you are eating because they don't have that far to travel to get from the farm to your table.
Eating sustainable also creates the continued recycling of nutrients all the way from the soil to the plants, to the animals, and eventually to your table. All of these components work together to create the best quality product for the consumers and the best quality of life for the producers.

It sounds like a lot of work, time, and money....right??
Well, I'm keeping it real by telling you it doesn't have to be time consuming or expensive to live this lifestyle. I'll give you daily tips on how you can incorporate sustainable living in your life if you so choose.
