LAST WEEKEND OF SUMMER

Enjoy the last weekend of Summer with the end of Summer seasonal produce 🍑🍒🍓

Here are my favorite Summer produce and my favorite way to eat them:

  • ARUGULA
    • Arugula is a spicy flavorful green that has a bold bite to it! 🌿  I like to add it to sandwiches in place of lettuce, make a pesto out of it with any nut, cheese, and oil you have, or simply make a salad out of it and add any fresh veggies you have to it.  It dresses up boring lettuce and adds a kick to  any sandwich or salad or side dish.....If you haven't tried, you must!
  • BLUEBERRIES
    • I love fresh blueberries in the Summer 🔵  They are so sweet and juicy and small which I love because I can eat more 😉 I eat blueberries straight, or add them to oatmeal or cereal, but my favorite way to eat them is to add them to my all natural homemade Blueberry Banana Bread: A perfect summer time choice featuring fresh blueberries and ripe bananas making for a sweet, moist bread.......Miss. Maria recommends enjoying for breakfast or even as a summertime dessert with it's cake like consistency
  • CHERRIES
    • Cherries are one of my favorite fruits because they come in many varieties and each variety is a little different but are all sweet and juicy in an elegant way.  I can eat cherries by the bowlful but my favorite way to enjoy them is in my all natural homemade        Dark Chocolate Cherry Artisan Bread: A summer and Winter delicacy featuring rich dark chocolate and fresh, sweet cherries with a hint of sweet almond flavor making this a sweet and savory treat which is perfect for Valentine's Day as well the warmer months.......it's a treat you can enjoy all year long.......Another Miss Maria favorite 🍒🍫
  • ONIONS
    • There are so many varieties of onions available right now it's hard to know which one to choose.  My favorite go to onion is the red onion 🔴 It's so versatile because it's sweet that you can eat raw (which I do) or you can add to savory dishes such as sauces or stews.  But...my favorite way to eat onions which I have several times a week is simply to caramelize them.  I slice and add to saute pan with a little olive oil, grass fed butter, salt, pepper, and some form of alcohol like vermouth or any hard alcohol which really adds an elegance and extra bold flavor to the dish.  I top these onions on everything from steaks to side dishes but have been known to just eat right out of the pan 🥘
  • LEMONS
    • I love lemons because they are so versatile.  I dress up plain water with lemon slices, I squeeze lemon in just about every dish as a finishing touch, I roast them along with roasted chicken for a sweet and savory component to the dish but my favorite way to enjoy them is in my all natural homemade Raspberry Lemon Bread: A Spring and Summer time delight featuring fresh lemons and raspberries picked at their peak folded carefully into batter ensuring their fresh taste in every bite
